My educational background is in Early Childhood Education and I have always been called to serve my community in regards to children. Shortly after we purchased our home in Federal Way, I was approached to consider becoming a school bus driver here. And, after 5 long years of teaching children 5 and under, with my own child within that age range for all five of those years, I thought, “That sounds terrible. I’ll do it!” I absolutely love driving school bus and accepted the offer to be the office manager here at Lux on the condition that I could leave early enough to drive my bus kiddos home each day.
What else do you need to know about me? I have a sick love for paperwork and organizing which is what brought me back to office work. I am a giant Harry Potter fan, and no, you can never be too old to love all things Harry Potter. I am far too emotionally invested in the Seattle Seahawks and only watch the games with people I trust to still love me after a bad game. I have terrible taste in music – N*SYNC forever! I love live theater and reading.
I typically spend the majority of my free time volunteering. I volunteer in my kiddo’s school often and have served in various roles on their PTA board. I have worked as a board member with Federal Way National Little League in the past and continue to volunteer as a parent with the league. I am also a cheer coach for the Puyallup Jr. Vikings where my daughter cheers and my nephew plays football. When I am not running from commitment to commitment, I am running on a treadmill for my own sanity or enjoying a good glass of red wine. My husband, Matthew, has enjoyed my particular brand of crazy since 2003 and is a saint for it. Together we have one daughter, Julia, who is elementary school age and is going to change the world someday with her independent spirit! We also have an obnoxious bird named Buzz and our playful pup, Luna.
