Born in Minnesota and raised various places around the Midwest, I came to the Pacific Northwest with my parents when I was 15. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in business and accounting from Pacific Lutheran University in 1984 (go Lutes!) and am currently working to complete a Masters in taxation from Golden Gate University.
My accounting career started in the corporate world. Right out of college, I was an Accounting Manager for a $20 million manufacturing firm in Lakewood. After nine years, I decided I wanted to do something different. For the next couple of years I was self-employed working as a contract controller and training business owners how to set up and run their accounting software, particularly QuickBooks. I really enjoyed working with different businesses, so it was only natural that my next career change took me in the direction of public accounting and taxation. I joined Lux & Associates in January of 1998 – almost 20 years ago!
I have been married for 30+ years to my wonderful husband, Steve, who is a teacher in Lakewood and we have a daughter, Stephanie, who is a Western Washington University graduate. While she was growing up, I was a minivan-driving soccer mom who traveled across the state watching her play soccer, cheer and swim. Now as an empty nester, Steve and I can often be found driving around the state enjoying the beautiful Pacific Northwest from our RV or cheering on the Sounders at CenturyLink Field. The culture at Lux and Associates, P.S. believes in work-life balance, and that family, friends and community are all as important as the work we do. I couldn’t agree more.
